Two Vancouver firefighters are in isolation after testing positive for COVID-19 last week.
The two firefighters are believed to have contracted the coronavirus while on vacation, though it’s unclear if they were vacationing together.
According to officials, one of the two firefighters worked a shift before noticing symptoms. The firefighters who worked with that individual are self-quarantining and monitoring for symptoms. Additional staff have been called in to cover for those who are off work and isolating.
Vancouver Coastal Health is conducting contract tracing. It’s unclear when exactly the firefighters were confirmed positive for COVID-19 but it’s believed to have been within the past week.
There are no exposure concerns for the public, as the firefighters wear full protective gear when on the job.
