The Fort Saskatchewan Farmers’ Market will be starting up once again, starting this week.

The Fort Saskatchewan and District Chamber of Commerce Farmers’ Market will be open for the season on Thursday, June 10 and will run every Thursday until September 23.

The market will run from 4pm to 7pm at the CN Station in Legacy Park in downtown Fort Saskatchewan. On Canada Day, July 1, the event will be extended from 11am to 6pm.

“Visit vendors with fresh produce, home-baked goods, butchers, hand-crafted arts, jewellery, and decor, live plants, clothing, and of course the famous food trucks with mini doughnuts, fresh made kettle corn, and so much more!” the local Chamber website wrote.

The Chamber has a full roster of vendors, offering goods from approximately 60 vendors each week. Chamber events and marketing manager, Stacy Dieckman, said the weekly event is in high demand, as there is currently a waiting list for vendors to join the market. “There’s definitely a high demand, and as some of the COVID restrictions are eased up, hopefully over the coming months or year, we will have a goal to expand the market.”

Health and safety are the chamber’s “main priorities when running the market.” All vendors will be required to wear masks, and attendees will be encouraged to wear them as well. Booths are spaced out 10 feet apart, and there will be three designated market entrances.

The market will run in a similar fashion as the year previous, which averaged between 1,300 and 1,900 visitors per week. No cases of the coronavirus were linked to the event.

“The Fort Saskatchewan & District Chamber of Commerce is working closely to follow the guidelines and recommendations from our City, Alberta Health, and the Alberta Sunnygirl Farmers’ Market program to ensure the health and safety of our staff, vendors, and our community,” the Chamber shared in a statement.

The City and Chamber will be using social media and other channels to share health and Market updates with the community.
